All Snake Killers Click Here
God has made us different, he made us so unique. We slither on the ground, we have no hands and feet. Though you find us scary, or maybe just plain weird, our intentions are not to hurt you or cause you such great fear. Our venom's not meant for humans but to help us when we eat. So, please stop the senseless killing before we're all extinct. We're not saying you have to love us or tell us we're the best. God's the one who created us. So, treat us with respect.

Fears are educated into us and can, if we wish, be educated out. -Karl A. Merringer
A righteous man cares for the needs of his animal... Proverbs 12:10
The snake is an animal. It has a backbone and a heart. It has red blood. It drinks water and eats food. It breathes air and feels fear just like every other animal in the world. And, it's in a body that's the hardest thing for the average person to understand. (author-unknown)

The Unified Treatment Algorithm for Snake Bite can be downloaded as a pdf file below.
- Seek emergency medical care as soon as possible.
- Remove jewelry, watches etc as well as tight fitting clothes or shoes in the area of the bite.
- Elevate the affected area ABOVE heart level. (Keeping the bitten extremity below heart level was previously an accepted practice as it was thought to help prevent the absorption of venom. However, this has little effect on venom absorption but does increase swelling. Elevating the bite above heart level has been shown to improve overall outcomes by reducing swelling as well as hydrostatic pressures in the bitten extremity.)
- If possible, extend and immobilize the bitten extremity.
- If possible and safe to do so, take a photo of the snake. (This may be helpful but is not necessary)
Do Not apply a tourniquet or pressure bandage.
Do Not use an ice pack.
Do Not cut and/or suck the wound.
Do Not use extraction devices or other similar "snake bite kits" commonly sold at sporting goods stores.
Do Not use Benadryl other than for allergic reactions. Benadryl is of NO benefit for a snake bite. (Click here to read more about Benadryl and snake bites.)
